No. 20.15.4 A, B Subject Category: Household, utilitarian Date or Period: 1920s Object: Plate, Pie, and Stand Description: Porcelain plate with raised sides forming a pie shape (A) with art-nouveau design of red, orange and blue flowers in panels rimmed with silver with a central design featuring an exotic bird on an off-white background, and matching nickel-plated stand. Underside of A has decal under glaze marked 'Royal-Rochester, hand-painted, Guaranteed Heat Proof, For Baking. Stand has stamped manufacturers mark reading: ‘Royal Rochester 1122’. No pottery mark. Size inside: Diameter 9”, flaring to 10”. History of Object: A pie server from the Royal-Rochester brand, the result of collaboration of the Rochester Stamping Co., or Rochester Stamping Works, knife and cutlery manufacturer Millar Fillmore Robeson, and China manufacturer Charles D.
