Description:
Leather Purse-like object. When opened is divided into twelve pockets with labels in front naming the months, January to December. Exterior has brass locks and corners that are slightly engraved. It's measurements are twelve and one-half inches by six and one-half inches. It is three inch in depth. On the reverse side of the file is the name H. H. Haight engraved in gold letters.
History of Object: This letter file was the property of Henry H. Haight, who was the tenth governor of California during the years 1867 to 1871. He was the first (Mayor, blacked out) of Alameda, 1872...... head of the board of trustees of Alameda in 1872.
