Description: Christening dress of cotton broadcloth with center panel of pintucks alternating with lace in a floral motif, with a ruffle at the hemline of same. Sleeves are finished with a smaller version of the same motif at the wrist. Closure on the back is with 4 apparently plastic buttons and long bow ties.

History of Object: Christening Dress worn by Alameda artist Aloysius John Kammer (1932-2018). John Kammer, born in Philadelphia, first came to Alameda to visit relatives, then moved here in 1988 to paint the many Victorian buildings and other scenes. He lived at 2029 Clinton Ave.
