Acc. No. 14.1.1 Subject Category: Household, decorative Date or Period: circa 1860's-1870's Object: Print, framed Description: Chromolithograph print mounted on canvas. The subject is a young woman with a turban-style headpiece. The print is enclosed in an oval-shaped gesso concave mat which is part of an ornate frame in American Renaissance Revival style. The reverse side of the frame has an original paper label with the framer's name, "Currier and Winter, San Francisco". Size: L-32 1/2” x W-29” History of Object: A chromolithographic copy of a Renaissance period painting depicting a young woman sentenced to death for killing her cruel father. This painting was popular with Victorian society because of its dramatic background. This picture hung for many years in the Fenn residence, 2028 Alameda Avenue.
