Description: A watercolor painting. Subject: a pastoral scene with four cows wading in a marsh with two trees in the background amid shoreline plant life. In the distance a windmill can be seen. The watercolor is matted in a white color in what appears to be the original frame of a concave stipple pattern with an incised border. The painting is signed: "H. Fisher".
Size: H-29 1/2 x W-46 in.
History of Object: A watercolor by Hugo Antone Fisher (1854-1916), Alameda artist.
Mr. Fisher and his family (a wife and two sons) came to Alameda in 1886. Both sons became trained artists. One of these sons, Harrison Fisher, became a famous illustrator and was noted for his paintings and drawings of beautiful women, known as "Fisher Girls".
