The front cover has a full-color cartoon drawing of Sambo with a tiger and stacks of pancakes; the back cover has an identical design, but with the inscription "Sambo's Restaurants" printed in yellow along the bottom margin. Printed inside the covers is a map showing the Sambo's Restaurant locations.

History of Object: Advertising matchbooks distributed by Sambo's Restaurant, Alameda. Part of the collection of the late Samuel Purdy, an original employee of this restaurant.
