Inside cover has a lining of what appears to be silk, and pages are of parchment-feel paper. Size: L 8 x W 6 inches History of Object: 1902-1903 California Directory, published by Frederick Husted. According to the Introduction, it was aimed at ladies of society, as a companion to the City Directory which was targeted at gentlemen in business circles. The information was obtained from 'ladies of the three cities embraced in the book'. Alameda Clubs (p 149) listed are the Adelphian Club, the Criterion Club, and the Tea Club.
