L 9" x W 14 1/2" History of Object: Papers found in the attic of City Hall, refoldered in 2011 after donation to the historical society/museum. These papers pertain to: A. # 170, 1926-1931 - actions involving Judge of the Police Court R.B. Tappan, and clerks, also requiring an office, plans included, in City Hall, with bids by Samuel Lee (office, 1510 Oak Street) and Vernor E. Thorpe (1717 Alameda Ave). B. # 171, 1926 - requests by the Archbishop of San Francisco to rezone a property, in order to build a church, with indications of opposition by residents/property owners. Description fits location of present-day St. Philip Neri Church. C. # 172, 1926-1932, activities of the recreation and parks department, but in particular, communications with E.J. Probst, superintendent, who was discharged, without vacation pay, by incoming City Manager Pierson, in 1931. In 172-8, Probst mentions that Dr. Hieronymous, as well as the heads of the Municipal Electric Light Department were also discharged (1931).
