Description:
Circular Sterling Silver medal with central bullseye enameld in black, white, and gold, on an orange ribbon (much frayed) on a gold-plated pot metal pin. Embossed letters and laurel leaves around the bullseye state: A.H.S. RIFLE TEAM. Silver mark on back reads: "VANWORMER & RODRIGUES" and "STERLING".

History: Alameda High School Rifle Team medal, likely c. 1929 or 1930.
Based on other objects in this collection, the medal was likely won by Richard Earl Netherwood, born 28 September 1911, died 24 July 1974, Alameda. In 1930 the Richard L. Netherwood (father of Richard E.) family lived at 2007 1/2 Lincoln Ave. Richard Earl married Alameda-born Bessie Merrick, whose family had come to Alameda before 1910, and who lived at 1308 Regent Street. In 1940 Bessie and Richard (Earl) lived at 1515 Benton Street with their young son Richard H. (the donor).
