Description: A four-page, stapled though folded, publication (A), in black type on white paper, titled 'The Electric Flash', Vol. I, No. 1, from September, 1935, and two sheets each featuring an image used on the first page of the publication. The images are on stationery stating 'Proof - Cellograph Printing Plates' in orange-type.

History of Object: The first newsletter published in 1935 by the Bureau of Electricity, and two printer's proof sheets for the images, one from 1893 of the Alameda City Electric Light Works, the other from 1935 of the Alameda Municipal Electric Light Plant, built 1913 at the corner of Otis and Park St. (today, only two small buildings remain next to the Anne B. Diament Plaza senior housing complex). The utility changed its name in 1935 to the Bureau of Electricity.
