No. 18.4.2 A, B Subject Category: Household furniture Date or Period. circa 1870's Object: Chairs, dining room Description: A pair of factory-made Eastlake-style dining room chairs with thin square seats and backs with original hand woven caning. The chairs' crest has an incised spoon carving with turnings and for additional strength, the back is attached to the seat with braces. Their front legs and sides have elaborate turnings. Size: H-36 1/2” x D-16 3/4” x W-18 1/2” History of Object: A pair of chairs from the Frank and Birdine Philipps home at 2045 Santa Clara Ave., now demolished. Acquired from: See Acc.
