B. Edition of Oakland Post-Enquirer, of Monday, January 10, 1938.
Size: L 22” X W 19”
History of Object:
A. Documents directed to City Manager Neil B. Pierson, pertaining to the golf course; handwritten letters from Earl Fry requesting leave of absence; handwritten accounting of profits from sale of used balls for 1930-1931; Permission, on letterhead with drawing of an idyllic cottage, of C. L. Traver & Son, Real Estate, Loans, Insurance, 2315 Santa Clara Ave., to repair gate and fence of the golf course.
B. Presumably this was saved because the sports page article headlining Mark Fry also lists the score achieved by Earl Fry, since the paper was folded to that page. Otherwise, perhaps because front page describes death of deputy Alameda County district attorney Harry E. Styles, who died Jan 8, behind the wheel of his car.
Documents were found in the attic of City Hall in the 1990s.
