Acc. No. 90.12.86 Subject Category: Furniture Date or Period: C. 1870's Object: Whatnot Description: Walnut corner whatnot of American manufacture. The whatnot consists of five shelves of graduated sizes from the top (11 inch depth) to the bottom shelf (18 inch depth). The shelves, supported in front by cyma-curved uprights, have matching serpentine fronts and are backed with galleries consisting of scroll-outlined and pierced panels. Size: H-68 inches. History of Object: Whatnot from the Neil & Maude Macdonald residence, 2066 San Jose Avenue. They were old-time residents of the city. Acquired from: Museum Acquisition Fund Date: 2-10-1990
