History of Object: Folders, found in the attic of City Hall, pertaining to miscellaneous topics: A: # 243, 1929 information sent to Sacramento elected persons, about Council resolution No. 1326 about dissolution of the Bay Farm Island Reclamation District (resolution not included). B. # 244, 1930, documents pertaining to the mosquito nuisance abatement; papers include a request by the Alameda Improvement Club to take the usual measure of pouring ‘crude oil onto stagnant pools’; further letters from / to the County Board of Supervisors to appoint City Manager Clifton Hickok a trustee of the newly formed County Mosquito Abatement District. C. # 246, 1929, request by Howard's Radio Shoppe, 1409 Park Street, for an ordinance regulating interference to radio receiving sets by other appliances, such as vacuum cleaners, ice machines, X-ray machines. City Attorney opinion was to do nothing until the technology had made more progress; council agreed. D. # 259, 1929, officially allowing Western Gas Company to do business in the district, even though Pacific Gas & Electric Company was already established. E. # 270, 1931, celebrations (and requests for (financial) aid by the City) of Memorial Day (May 31), and General Pulaski Memorial Day (October 11), the latter first proclaimed by Congress in 1929. Gardner, 3005 Van Buren St.; # 289, 1932, permit request by Northern Calif. Conference of Seventh day Adventists, to solicit funds. Includes 'Ingathering' brochure, promoting the missionary work; request by R. Thomas Hughes, for permit to engage local lady solicitors to hand out free excursion tickets to Richmond Industrial City; Response to protest by Leroy F. Krusi about vending house-to-house food stuffs and merchandise; it was felt prohibiting would cause hardship on many citizens; however, it was decided only locals were allowed. G. # 291, 1931, relating to legalities of use of public funds for advertising in the California Real Estate Magazine H. # 304, 1931, permit request by an Oakland resident to peddle fish; denied.
