Size (envelope): L 14 1/2 inches by W 11 1/2 inches. History of Objects: Papers regarding the family, and photographs of ancestors, of siblings Helena B. Ames and Robert H. Ames. Includes information on Reinoehl and Palmer ancestors. Includes marriage certificates and divorce papers (W. C. Forsyth and Ella Ballentine, marriage booklet 1869; Thomas Palmer and Emma Gingrich, marriage 1877; Benjamin Harding Ames and Helena E. Palmer, marriage 1900 (central hole), divorce 1919 (ripped in two); Helena and Laurence Higgings, divorce 1936; Helene and Harry Gold, divorce 1940. Also includes 1982 burial information of Robert Ames, and a 1923 columbarium certificate for an unspecified family member, 1968 clipping regarding funeral of Helen Palmer Forsyth. Finally an old lythographic Family register (on lithograph by N. Currier) of Georg Gingrich (1825-1872), his wife Helena Lena Reinoehl (1829-?), and their children Maria (1848-?), Samuel R (1849-1909); Salma (Selma) Catharine (1851-1938), George Ludwig (1854-?); William Henry (1856-1918). The Ames family came to Alameda from San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake. Mrs. Ames later married Alameda postman W.C. Forsyth. Donor: Estate of Helena B.
