Size: L-2 x W-3 1/2 inches. History of Object: Business card of W. C. Forsyth, carpenter & general jobbing, 2146 San Jose Ave., Alameda. Mr. Forsyth was born in San Francisco in 1871 and came to Alameda when his parents built a home at 3219 Briggs Avenue (still standing) in 1885. At 19 he was hired as one of Alameda's first postmen. He married the donor's mother Helena Palmer Ames in 1921 and built a home at 2146 San Jose Avenue in 1922. He died in 1950. Acquired from: Helene Ames Date: 11-28-85
