Acc. No. 81.206.2 Subject Category: Sports, Softball Date or period: 1939 Object: Trophy Description: It is a large loving cup with lid, with finial of outstretched eagle, resting on three columns. This in turn, is mounted on a wooden base, containing a radio. Flanking the platform on which the radio rests are two metal softballs supporting two figures of a lady softball player with outstretched arms catching ball in a glove. At the base of the trophy is a brass plaque with engraved inscription, "World's Amateur Softball Champions of the Amateur Softball Association, 1939". On the bowl of the cup is engraved "World Champion, Alameda Girl's Soldier's Field, September 12, 1939". There is also a list of twelve girl participants, Brass, gold washed. Size: 46" high, wooden base is 22"X6" in depth. History of Object: Trophy presented to the Alameda Girl's Softball team by the Amateur Softball Association in 1939.
