No. 83.35.12 Subject Category: Beaches, Sunny Cove Date or period: Circa-1912 Object: Bathing suit (female) Description: Two-piece black & white bathing suit (bloomer type with skirt), made of heavy woolen broadcloth.Full length suit (to gathered knees), with 6 buttons from neck to navel. Bertha collar, gathered sleeves, skirt waistline band and hem are trimmed with white cording. Skirt (detachable) is secured by buttons to the waist of the main suit. Skirt has a white clothing label which states in ink "A. Lowenstein-Box11". The main section of the bathing suit has no clothing label other then an appliqued "A" on the nape of the garment. Size: 45 inches in length. History of Object: Ladies bathing suit (circa-1912), from Sunny Cove Beach, 456 Central Avenue, Alameda, Ca. George H. & Bertha Masters, owners and proprietors.
