Documents found in the attic of City Hall.
A. 1924 Documents relating to California Girls’ Training Home, Mrs. A. O. Gott, president, at Lincoln and Linden. Report of inspection of the building, ca. 46 years after construction. Suggestions are made to find a more rural location, and City Attorney Locke is asked if there’s a way to force the removal.
This was the former Kohlmoos Hotel; it is now the location of Longfellow Park.
B. 1924-1926 Correspondence with “Central Box & Lumber Co.”, at 2329 Blanding Ave, a company that was started and went under around 1924.
C. 1920-1921 reflects correspondence with the Boy Scouts organization, including thanks for a Sea-scout clubhouse at the foot of Garfield (1920) and a scheme thought up by City Manager Hewes to have the Boy Scouts attempt to poison the Argentinian Ants. including a list of supplies needed from Mr. Eberly’s pharmacy, and a recipe from Security Drug Co, 1440 Park Street, for poison (1921).
