No. 20.55.6 Subject: Schools Alameda, High Date or Period: 1930 Object: Chain, Collar Description: Small gold pins connected with thin chain; one pin is triangle-shaped with abbreviated corners, with an acorn in the center, with the number ‘30’ on it. On the longer sides black enamel except for forming the letters A, H, and S; on the other side of the chain, a pin with a gold and black enamel capital letter A. On the back of the triangular pin markings are imprinted: VWAR and 10K. Size: pins, approx. L 1/4", chain, L: 1 1/4. History: Alameda High School pin for 1930. This pin was owned either by Richard Earl Netherwood, (born 28 September 1911, died 24 July 1974, Alameda), or Bessie Merrick (born 23 September 1911- d. 8 September 1984), both graduates of the Class of June, 1930, and parents of the donor. In 1930 the Richard L. Netherwood family lived at 2007 1/2 Lincoln Ave. Son Richard Earl married Alameda-born Bessie Merrick, whose family had come to Alameda before 1910, and who lived at 1308 Regent Street.
