Date or period: Circa 1942 Object: Helmet, Fireman's Description: Plastic helmet (red with white lines), with circular insignia (blue circle with white triangle and caption "Fire-Alameda"). Under the brim of hat is written in blue paint "Harold Glidewell-82". The brim has a metal loop for hanging the hat. Interior of hat has a green & white manufacturer's label with slogan "Hard Boiled", made in U.S.A by E. D. Bullard Co., S. F., Calif. Adjustable size: 6 5/8 to 7 5/8. Size: 14 3/4 inches (length), 12 inches across. History of Object: Hat worn by Mr. Harold Glidewell, who was a member of the ADEFS (Alameda Defense Emergency Fire Services) in 1942.
