THE LENGTH OF PADDLE REDUCES IN SIZE TO THE HANDLE, WHICH IS APPROXIMATELY 24" IN LENGTH. SIZE: L 219" X W 4" HISTORY OF OBJECT: PADDLE USED TO REMOVE BREAD FROM OVENS OF THE FRENCH BAKERY, LOCATED AT 1416 - 1420 PARK AVENUE, ALAMEDA, CALIFORNIA (BETWEEN CENTRAL AVENUE AND SANTA CLARA AVENUE). THE SITE WAS OCCUPIED LATER BY THE "ALAMEDA JOURNAL" NEWSPAPER HQ. PADDLE WAS FOUND DURING REMODELING BY THE ALAMEDA FIRST NATIONAL BANK PEOPLE IN THE MID-1970's.
