Acc. No. 17.17.1 Subject Category: Furniture Date or Period: circa 1894 Object: Music Cabinet Description: A music cabinet supported by cabriole legs. The cabinet also supports a "whatnot" shelf that is backed by a French beveled mirror. This shelf is supported by two decorated posts and is topped with a pseudo-style balustrade made of what appears to be bronze. The cabinet section is opened with a lock and key that when opened, reveals shelves for music sheets. The door has an oval shaped medallion which is repeated on the crest rail that has multi-colored wood with inlaid designs of musical instruments and sheet music. Size: H-54” x D-15” x W-20” History of Object: A music cabinet owned by Cora Lessig, wife of Charles Lessig, the original owners of 1419 Mound St., Alameda, built in 1912.
