Description: Singer sewing machine (stationary head) with walnut two drawer cabinet and cast iron legs & treadle. Machine head protected by box like wooden (walnut) dust cover (burl walnut trim) with transfer stating "The Singer Mfg. Co., N. Y.," & "Trade Mark."
Size: Table top L-16 1/2 x W-30 1/2. H-41 1/2 inches.
History of Object: Singer treadle sewing machine brought to Alameda in 1920 by Mrs. Ebba A. Craven, and used here by her for many years. The Craven family lived in the 2200 block of Central Avenue. The machine originally belonged to Mrs. Emma Anderson, a resident of San Francisco and mother of Mrs. Craven. It was used in 1911 by Mrs. Anderson to sew her daughter’s (Ebba) wedding gown.
