Acc.No. 82.26.1 Subject Category: Clothing Date or period: 1934 Object: Gown Description: Gown with pink taffeta bodice and ruffled sleeves to waist, black crepe from waist to hem. Black crepe belt fastened with gold buckle with imitation seed pearls. History of Object: Gown purchased at Kahns', Movieland Shop, Oakland, Ca., and worn by Mrs. Wm. Murray, wife of the Mayor of Alameda, 1931-1935, to a ball held at Neptune Beach, Jan 30, 1934. The dress is a replica of a gown worn by Lupe Velez, famous movie actress of the time. Acquired from: Mrs. Wm. Murray Date: July 3, 1982 Note: Mrs. Murray stated that she had worn black suede shoes with steel cut buckles to complete the outfit.
