It is a swivel walnut desk chair, with arms. It has hand caning on seat and back. It has incised carving on the back and it sits on four-legged tripod base, which has incised carving. It has an iron mechanism to adjust height. This mechanism is patented June 4, 1875. Size: The seat surface is 18½ by 20 inches. The back is 17½ high by 17 inches wide. From the top of the chair back to the base it is 35½". History of Object: This desk chair was used for forty years by Mr. Joe Quintero, who sat in it while weaving carpets and rugs on a hand loom. About 1900 he worked for the Alameda Rug Works. Mr. Osterdock owned the business. Acquired from : Mrs. Mary E. Osterdock Date: April, 1954
