Inside cover states 'The White Family And the World they Lived In, by Guy and Freda White. B. A soft cover booklet with images of a man and woman, on pale blue background, with the title: “The White Book”, with 95 pages and many illustrations of family photographs. C. is a more recent copy of B. History of Object: Soft cover booklets of the history of the Guy Arnott / White family who were some-time residents of Alameda. Mr. White, was a minister, originally from a farm in the Sierra foothills; his wife Freda Dunlop was from a family who moved to Alameda when she was 13. The couple married in 1907. Freda had previously been engaged to Will Barber, from a pioneer Alameda family of 1421 High Street, but he died 3 days before the wedding. Mrs. Anna Barber (1857-1941), Will's mother, nonetheless helped Freda whenever her family fell on hard times, whenever there was a change in Guy's work circumstances, and they returned to Alameda frequently and even lived here for short stretches, before ultimately settling in Oakland. 1421 High Street has been replaced. Booklet A was compiled and written by Freda Dunlop White and Guy Arnott White; B. / C. was written by Freda and Guy's children. Acquired from: The White family. Date: 06/05/21
