No. 11.66.1 Subject Category: City of Alameda Date or Period: 1922-1924 Object: Folder, file Description: Acid-free legal-size manila file folder, with legal size documents, three of which are marked on the reverse with ‘20’ and a sequence number. The documents are titled ‘Affidavit of Publication’, contain a clipping from a newspaper, headlined ‘Notice to Taxpayers’, have identical printed text with dotted lines where information has been typed in, and have been imprinted with the seal of the City of Alameda. Size, L 14 3/4" X W 9" History of Object: Affidavit of Publication, 5 consecutive publications, by the Times-Star, of Notice to Taxpayers, stating that the City Clerk, W. E. Varcoe, had received the tax assessment books, and that complaints could be submitted in writing. The contract to print official notices had been awarded to the Times-Star in this period, and the clerk at the printer’s office responsible signed the document. The 1923 document was created twice, for reasons unknown; only one of the documents has the sequence number on the back. Clerks at the printer’s:1922: A. A. Hobe (#20-1); 1923: E. E.
