Title page, etc. missing. Size: L-7" x W-5" History of Object: Family Bible of the Clinton family, early African-American residents of Alameda. The Bible contains a family record of births, marriages and deaths. Lee Clinton, paternal head of the family, was born in South Carolina. His wife, Racheal, was born in North Carolina. They were married on July 14, 1886. They settled in Alameda in 1889, where Lee was employed by Joseph A. Leonard, architect and builder as listed in the F. M. Husted Directory of 1889-90. In the Polk-Husted Directory of 1903 Lee is listed as a laborer living at 2060 Clinton Avenue. The Clintons' first child, Ida, was born in Alameda on November 25, 1889. Lee Clinton died in the early 1900's, and Racheal died in February 1936. Acquired from: Albert Stefani, Date: 11-19-1994
