Size: L-8.5 x W-5.75 inches.
History of Object: A flyer advertising the Alameda Encinal newspaper, founded in 1869. On the reverse side is an advertisement for the Alameda Brewery, located at the northwest corner of Santa Clara Ave and Third Ave. (now 6th Street). This may have been the first mention of this brewery located in Alameda, and it may have been the forerunner of the Palace Brewery.
