Attached to the container is an original paper label in blue and red colored type stating: "BOYCO". Size: H-14 inches. History of Object: A liquid container found in the "pump house" on the grounds of the Meyers House estate, and it was most likely purchased by Henry H. Meyers. It was manufactured in Alameda by the BOYCO Co. on the 1800 block of Oak St. Some of BOYCO's early products, such as this example, have a cobalt blue decorative band at the upper and lower extremes of the container; this decoration appears to have been discontinued at a later date. ALAMEDA INDUSTRIES A collection of sheet metal containers produced by the BOYCO MFG. CO. Originally based in Los Angeles it expanded operations in 1923 when it purchased property and initiated construction of a manufacturing plant in Alameda in 1926, which was located in the 1800 block of Oak Street. In 1939 it was bought by the United States Steel Products Co., which continued the manufacturing of sheet metal containers.
