Two page invitation with illustrated cover (American flag accentuated with gold) stating ‘Alameda welcomes its fighters’ and B. matching envelope (illustrated with replica of medal), postmarked "Alameda, May 28, 1919." Size: L-7 x W-5 1/4 inches. History of Object: Invitation to an event held June 14, 1919, where 1300 medals (minted by the City of Alameda) were passed out to Army & Navy men & women who had served in World War 1 (and had been residents of Alameda). The event took place in Lincoln Park and was attended by Governor Stephens and other officials (Alameda City, etc.). Examples of the medal can be seen in the museum collection. This particular invitation was sent to Robert S. Lamborn, 1428 Morton Street, who had served in the war. He was the son of Benjamin F. Lamborn, City Clerk of Alameda from 1895 to 1901.
