Description: Horizontal iron press with driving wheel attached on top. When the wheel is turned, the press meets a heavy base. This base has four perforated holes so that it can be attached to a table or platform. The object has its original japanned finish with remnants of pin striping.

History of Object: A paper press used by the Alameda Fire Department in the late 19th Century. From the collection of the late Archie Waterbury who was a retired Assistant Fire Chief for the City of Alameda.
