Ornate ribbon-like raised surface has further engraved 'W. H. Wyber', and on another raised surface '1891'. Size: L-2 1/4 inches. History of Object: Fire Dept. badge of Fireman William Herbert Wyber, 1891, fireman of Pacific Hose Company. #4, Alameda Fire Dept. It is possible this is William Wyber who fell to his death in 1896 in a Utica mine. (San Francisco Call, Aug 9, 1896). Acquired from: Jane Lanktree through Fire Chief Lane. Donated: 1951.
