Exterior watch case engraved with elaborate initials "H.J.K." Back of watch opens revealing an engraved message "1st Prize, Senior Barge, July 4, 1909." Keystone watch case #7922522, manufactured by Waltham. Original black velvet covered watch case with printed label on interior silk lining stating “O. F. Westphal & Co., Jewelers & Optician, 1405 Park Street, Alameda, Cal.”. History of Object: Gold pocket watch presented to Herman J. Kihn (at age 12), coxswain for the Alameda Boating Club racing crew, winners of the Pacific Coast Championship, Honolulu, Hawaii, 1909. Acquired from: Mrs. Herman J. Kihn Date: 7-7-87
