History of Object: Documents with supporting photographic evidence petitioning the Navy for an additional Tube between Alameda and Oakland. For Alameda interested parties included Charles R. Schwanenberg, City Manager, and Harold D. Weber, Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Weichhart and councilman W. Branscheid (1941). Includes photographs and a newspaper clipping detailing congestion and accidents, and an enlarged 1941 aerial view of Webster St., taken between 4pm and 5pm, showing bumper-to-bumper traffic, also the Bethlehem Shipyard, the General Engineering, Pacific Bridge, and Pacific Coast Engineering plants, various railroad tracks, the remnants of the San Francisco Bay Airdrome, and crops.
