Description: Blackened 6-burner cast-iron stove on four legs, with pierced hob on the right side, a left side vent, light metal edges, oven door and choke door, all elaborately decorated in relief. Main oven door states 'Quaker Gem 7'. Includes an oven rack which is decorated with the word ‘Quaker’. Top has ‘No. 7-18’ and slide panel’ Side states: ‘Taunton Iron Works, Taunton, Mass.’

History of Object: Taunton Iron Works, Taunton, Mass., 'Quaker Gem 7' Cast iron stove from a house, in the last third of 2200 Encinal block. Donor does not recall the exact address, but it was a late colonial revival, one story, high basement, probably built between 1910 to early 1920s. Donor had permission to salvage from the city, as it was slated for demolition to make place for the new High School in the 1970s.
