Description: A library-style bound book (tapes are visible) of maps with added detail handwritten in pencil. Covers are of worn and faded leather-style black book cloth over cardboard, with red leather spine and corners with gold details. Colored layer of the leather of the spine has been lost. A rectangular area where a larger label used to be is visible, and a worn area on the top right corner which may have had a small sticker. Pasted on the inside of the front cover is a page with index information handwritten in ink, with additions and corrections in pencil or ink in a different hand. No identifying markings remain.
Size: L 22 x W 15 1/2 inches.
History of Object: Blockbook of the City of Alameda, original owner unknown, donor unknown. This book is likely to have had an original catalog number which has been lost, and may have had information on the spine. It appears to be dating to around 1897.
