Description: Black/white photographic image upon glass with Japanned backing, mounted in a wooden case (the cover is missing) with a veneer (largely rubbed off) of a dk. brown leather-look hand tooled design, with an inside gold tooled ornamental frame overlaying a white paper matting with gold printed lined borders.

History of Object: Mr and Mrs R. Frank Clark posed on a bluff overlooking Niagara Falls, New York; they probably are on their honeymoon. They built a house in Alameda in 1878 at 1724 Alameda Avenue (it is still standing). Mrs. Clark eventually died of consumption. Mr. Clark was the father of Herbert D. Clark, a prominent local insurance man, active in the AHS in its beginning, and the father of Ms. Eleanor Clark who was once Executive Director of the Alameda Chapter of the American Red Cross.
