History of Object: Stair treads manufactured on Pacific Avenue (West End), by N. Clark & Son. An early industry in Alameda, N. Clark & Son, manufacturers and dealers in architectural terra cotta, pressed brick, sewer and chimney pipe, etc., was originally established in Sacramento and moved here in 1886. It discontinued operations around 1950.
