Upper back rest is curved and with oblong cut out panels, serves as a hand grip for carrying chair. Size: 38 inches from floor to top of back, 19 inches as depth of seat, 18 inches from floor to seat. History of Object: Chair found in the basement of 1823 San Jose Avenue, Alameda. It belonged to the Herbert D. Clark family, who settled in Alameda in 1878. Acquired from: Ms. Eleanor Clark Date: May 7, 1982
