Description: Metal insignia consisting of 2 wings flanking a three-pointed shield, with the letters 'U.S.' on a vertically striped background, with above the letters, 2 rows of 6 stars, and one central star, all mounted on a piece of fabric with metal backing underneath. Wings have multiple feathers at the shoulder.

History of Object: Set of World War I wings earned by Bayard Sharp. Bayard Sharp is listed as 'Lieut.' on the list of 'honored son' medal receivers (16.53.28). He was a grandson of Dr. Henry Gibbons, early resident of Alameda, and a nephew of Emilie Cohen, of the Fernside Cohens, and lived until at least the 1940s in Alameda.
