Description: Statuette of gypsum of a baby, lying on the back with legs curled up loosely, and arms spread, hands open. A cap of gold-foil or paper is attached to the back of the head with a nail, showing shiny gold behind the face. The figure is hand-painted and glazed, with a full head of wavy blond hair, and wearing an ivory-white robe. A line of gold decorates the neckline.
Size: H 2 1/8 x L 3/4 x W 1 1/2 inches.
History of Object: Figurine of Baby Jesus, part of a Manger or Nativity Scene of the Martin Family, who came to Alameda in the 1900s.
