Description: softbound paperback book, with cover featuring an image of a body of water with two sailboats, and one biplane. Title: 'Wooden Wings over the Golden Gate; Early Aviation in the San Francisco Bay Area 1910-1939', and in the bottom right: 'Allen Herr'. The book is signed on the first page. A letter to the 'Curator' at the Alameda Museum was included as well as a business card.

History of Object: Book about civilian aviation in the Bay Area, featuring activities at Alameda airports, i.e. Sunset Field (1911) on the Alameda mud flats to the southwest of the Alameda Mole, Bay Farm Island Airport (created in 1920, and given up with the development of the Oakland Airport nearby), Alameda Airport (founded in 1928) and the San Francisco Bay Airdrome (opened in 1930).
