2025.38.6Description
Acc. No. 25.38.6 A, B
Subject Category: Homes of Alameda
Date or Period: 1924
Object: blueprint, architectural
Description: Blueprints (two copies) of the ground floor plan of a house, no identifying information on the drawing. Versos have hand-drawn maps of 4 lots along Lafayette, between Lincoln and Pacific, and one lot on Pacific.
Size: A: L 16 1/4 x W 12 1/4 inches;
B: L16 1/4 x W 12 inches
History of Objects: A blueprint likely from the attic of the Office of H.G. or C.G. Mehrtens, real estate brokers. Assuming the map on the back is related, based on the position of the porch (right), and chimney (left) only 1601 Lafayette matches the layout, although a garage appears to have been added on the Lincoln side. City records suggest a remodel in 1959, perhaps the garage was added then. Other houses on the block (except 1625 Lafayette (built 1925)) appear similar in style to 1601, but have the porch and living room window reversed from the blueprint, or completely different layout (1832 Pacific).
