Calif., and on the other side, an image of an icecream coupe on the left, an Ice Cream package on the right, and in the middle an image of a medal and ribbon, with heading: Ice Cream Desserts; California State Agricultural Dept., Gold Medal Award California State Fair - Ice Cream, 1940, with underneath: For All Occasions. Includes bottle cap of off-white cardboard, featuring an image of a smiling girl with heading 'Skim Milk', 'Double Cap Protected With Seal On'.

History of Object: Quart bottle with Skim Milk bottle cap from the Alameda Dairy, 2320 Central Ave, c. 1940. Bottle caps did not need to be usable past the life span of the milk. They were often color coded. The bottle has a special rim in the neck to prevent the cap from going down further.
