Chairs have circular shaped seats with hand caning. Routed arms are attached to seat and back stile. Crest well has design of machine carving with burl veneer. Front leg and double rungs both turned. Size: H 34 D 16 W 17 inches History of Object: Chairs originally owned by Mrs. Emma Crosby, great grandmother of the donor. The widow Crosby's later husband, Elisha, had served as Ambassador to Guatemala (1861-1864). The chairs became the property of their daughter, Leonie, who married Joseph Kahn, supervisor at the Alameda Electric Light Company at the foot of Park Street. They were subsequently given to their daughter, Ray, mother of the donor. Donor: Art Lewicki Donated: December 5, 1998
