Description: Art print (sepia tinted engraving) entitled "Psyche at Nature's Mirror," painted by Paul Thumann. Original gesso on wood frame, ivory finish (paint) with beading (gilt) as an inner border.
Size: L-23 x W-17 3/4 inches.
History of Object: Art print which hung in the home of Wm. Theodore Eisfeldt, 1722 Buena Vista Avenue. Mr. Eisfeldt was a musician (viola & oboe) and arranger. Originally from Germany, born in Anhalt, Ballenstadt, Dec. 13, 1834, he came to California in 1852. He served in the Civil War, a member of the First California Volunteers. In 1867 he settled in San Francisco and became one of the organizers of the Musicians Union No. 6. In 1892 he built a home at 1722 Buena Vista Avenue which he occupied until his death in
1915.
