History of Object:
Documents found in the attic of City Hall. This number combines the folders for the salary and other expenses per department.
The Fees collected are those from the sale of animals from the pound by poundmaster Ewing (A), fees from licenses, divided into liquor, business, dog tags, and 'duplicates' (A), and from Chimney Inspections by F. K. Millington (B). F. accounts are split into Salaried Firemen and 'on-Call', and reflects retirement Fund usage. G. includes some expense details, such as Polk-Husted, for Directory services;
K. includes expenses for Recreation and Parks: purchase for school lot from Hannah D. Smith (ordinance #475); a purchase relating to ‘Thompson’ Playground; Warrant of Weltmann Lot; legal expenses relating to a lot owned by M. W. Simpson; a street steamroller; contract for a fire house (J. M. Boyd); purchase of a fire engine.
Several of these folders evidence the switch from hand-written to typed documents, and the introduction of the City Seal on stationery after 1907.
