History: Letter written to 'Miss Fanny' by D.W. McDonnell. Letter found among effects of McDonell family, pioneers of Bay Farm Island. It appears McDonnell was fighting with the Confederate Army, 'confident the yankies will be defeated', 'although Johnson army acted very badly in the last battle this army acts bad enough, but they run for nothing before anybody is hurt', and 'General Bucknor is in Command of our division and Gen.l Gregg of the Brigade. We have lost Gen.l Wood and Gen.l Robertson out of our Division'.
